6. ***0 alloy steel Heat treatment
Annealing
AISI ***0 alloy steel is annealed at **2°C (***0°F) followed by
slowly cooling in the furnace.
Tempering
AISI ***0 alloy steel can be tempered at **5 to **9°C (**0 to
***0°F) depending upon the desired hardness level. The hardness of
the steel can be increased if it has lower tempering temperature.
For example, tensile strength of **5 ksi cab be achieved by
tempering at **6°C (**0°F), and a tensile strength of **0 ksi can
be achieved by tempering at **8°C (***0°F).
Hardening
AISI ***0 alloy steel can be hardened by cold working, or heating
and quenching.

7. Forming
AISI ***0 alloy steel has high ductility. It can be formed using
conventional techniques in the annealed condition. It requires more
pressure or force for forming because it is tougher than plain
carbon steels.
8. Welding
AISI ***0 alloy steel can be welded using all conventional
techniques. However, the mechanical properties of this steel will
be affected if it is welded in the heat treated condition, and post
weld heat treatment should be performed.
9. Forging
AISI ***0 alloy steel is forged at **6 to ***5°C (***0 to
***0°F)

AISI ***0 alloy steel can be hot worked at **6 to ***8°C (***0 to
***0°F)
*1.Cold Working
AISI ***0 alloy steel can be cold worked using conventional methods
in the annealed condition.
*2. Processing
AISI ***0 steel round bar and flat sections can be cut to your
required sizes. ASTM ***0 tool steel ground bar can also be
supplied, providing a high quality tool steel precision ground tool
steel bar to your required tolerances. SAE ***0 steel is also
available as Ground Flat Stock / Gauge Plate, in standard and
nonstandard sizes.
